An early start to Hobart this morning. Stopped at Hardly Normals on the way to the Salamaca Markets. My GP was cactus... They had a new one for $75, 50% off the normal price and with a replaceable lithium battery. AND it didn't lead me astray like the old one did the last few days.

The markets were easy to get to using it. As I passed the wharf area I saw a few beautiful old wooden boats :-) I went back later for a closer look. Absolutely fascinating.
I was amazed at the size of the markets. Much more about handcrafted products, fruit and vegetables than food. I walked from one end to the other and then down the other side. Absolutely amazing amount of stuff on sale. I looked for the bloke from Cygnet but did not see any stall that looked like the one I saw on his TV show.
The fresh vegetables were interesting for the variety of vegetables available.
I spied a bratwust stall and had a pork bratwust with sauerkraut and German Mustard. I just had to have one of!! Delicious. I had bought a Cascade Ginger Beer just before that and as I was paying for the bratwust I was bumped from behind and the bottle fell to the ground and burst. Damn!! Some time later I decided to get another drink from the same stall an as I was paying for it the bloke said that he had seen the bottle fall to the ground and gave me another bottle of ginger beer. So there I was with two bottles of ginger beer and:-) Damn nice of him to do that.

On the way back I just plugged in a few points of interest into the GPS and even found a shorter was to Peters place :-) I'm looking forward to the Sorrel markets tomorrow and then onto Huonville
The more we read the more green we get, especially knowing your now.in the Huon (or as the locals say, the Ewan). Your now in what we believe to be one.of the most beautiful parts of Tassie, and knowing your going to be next door to our place makes us want to be there more than ever.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the area and the great road trips, should be great for the bike.
