15/01/12 (21c Forecast)
Had a late start today. Did not leave Peter's place until 0930 today. Fuelled up at Sorrell and  headed to Huonville. Pulled up in the middle of town, figured I would have a coffee and a bite to eat before heading to Franklin. Alas and alack. No wallet !! %$(^%!!. Went through every pocket I had and even ones I didn't. Still no wallet. All my cards, ID etc !! Looked through my tank bag, jacket, bumbag and even the trailer. Rang 'The Organiser' and she suggested transferring funds to Zoe's account (The real estate agent in Huonville) and she would withdraw, from her account, cash for me to use. Kate rang  the servo at Sorrell but no joy. I rang the police but the wallet had not been handed in as yet.

I decided to  head back to Sorell and dropped off the trailer at Ruth's place. (Kate & Adam's neighbour on the right). Her driveway was the least steepest to the three. Even then I had a bit of trouble getting up the drive with the trailer.

The ride to Sorrel and back was a great ride and I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't have the loss of my wallet on my mind. I didn't find it.

I met Zoe at the Huonville ANZ and, feeling much better with a few dollars in my pockets, went to the Franklin pub and had a hot roast dinner at Kate & Adam's recommendation. As it was late in the afternoon by then, it was my lunch and dinner.

I had a quick look at the wooden boat workshop, (it had already closed) then went to Jenny's place. Boy THAT was a steep driveway !!.  She came out as soon as I pulled up and invited me in for a cup of tea and then along with her great granddaughter showed me to my bedroom for my stay whilst there. A lovely old lady. I will use her place as a base for a few days after I have done the work at Kate & Adam's place. I can travel around for a few days and enjoy the curves and the scenery and the cheap cherries. ($10 for 3Kg)

I had a quick walk in her front yard and photographed a couple of her fruit trees :-) I could not get to them all as it was 'a jungle out there' :-)

Plums

Apricots - yum yum
And more plums

Up early. Bed was toastie but sun was up high already. Had my &^)*&% phone charging in the kitchen and when I looked at the time it was 0615 !! Too late, I was up !! I sat on the veranda with a cup of tea and watched a group of people sculling up the river with someone in a small power boat yelling obscenities at them, telling them to 'pull their finger out' and to 'put their backs into it' :-) I figured it was their loving coach :-)

I then walked amongst the plum trees, munching on a few ripe ones then down the driveway in search of a few hand fulls of blackberries. It's a beautiful part of the world and I can see why Kate & Adam are so rapt in it. I will have to come back in Feb - March next time :-)

Apples - not ripe yet
I received a call from Ruth next door to Kate's, John had left a voice mail inviting me to the Wooden Boat school in Franklin at 1730. I could help out working on a boat and there was a meal afterwards, with a glass of wine or two. How could I refuse !!

What a great evening !! Talked to different codgers ( I was going to say 'old codgers' but some of them were my age :-)) Someone was working on a mast, another replacing a stern on a boat, someone else was using an adz on a plank while there were a couple of fellers re-assembling a old Lister single pot motor.  John was outside teaching this young bloke how to use the adz  on a short length of a tree trunk.  I went onto Johns boat later and chatted to him. He was installing a handmade timber ring to go around the mast. I offered (probably unneeded) advice on securing  the ring

John teaching a young fella how to use a plane

In for major repairs :-)

It was a really great evening, and then they called us in for supper. The others (about 15) were  already eating !! Roast chicken, Spuds, (a type they called 'pinkeye') done in butter and garlic, small boiled beetroots, cabbage salad done with red and green cabbage and finely sliced apple with a superb dressing and large bowls of crusty bread rolls. Oh yes, a choice of red or white wine to wash everything down. For medical reasons, I had two glasses of red to wash down the meal. Thinking, that's it, I'm full, out came large bowls of freshly made fruit salad sitting on small mountains of ice cream !!  Where was I going to put that !! I managed, only just...

After the dishes had gone I sat next to the young lass that had helped prepare the food. She had made the cabbage salad, which I commended her on. I found out that she and partner came from East Germany and it was her mothers recipe. They were both working at the wooden boat building school to learn more about the art of traditional boat building and had been there 2 months already. They had been down the East coast of the mainland but not to WA & the NT. Being a true Territorian I recommended that they visit the NT to experience the joys of swimming with the salties and sea wasps. They declined for some reason :-)

It was a really magic evening and great way to meet a few locals and fellow travellers :-)

17/01/12 (31 Forecast) - (36c actual - in Hobart - not here !!)
A quiet day today. Foraged amongst the various plum trees and blackberry bushes for breakfast and then washed it down with a cuppa on the veranda overlooking the Huon River. There were the scullers again. Only this time there were 2 per boat !!  Their coach trailing in a tinnie yelling out his views on their skills. I found out that this stretch of the river has an internationally known 2000m rowing course. Right out the front of Jennies place !!

John's boat is the one on the left

I removed all the old blinds at Kate & Adams place and had Zoe (Homelands Real Estate) drop off the new stuff ready for me tomorrow. Then rode to Kingston (30km away) for a phone to replace my non functioning 'smart' phone. No luck as I had to have ID.........  I went to the police station twice today but it was closed !! The sign said 'out on road patrol"

Found my old license in the safe so tomorrow it's off to Woollies or Chicken Feed (like a $5 shop)  in Huonville for a temporary phone. Went today - No Telstra phones !!

14/01/12
An early start to Hobart this morning. Stopped at Hardly Normals on the way to the Salamaca Markets. My GP was cactus...  They had a new one for $75, 50% off the normal price and with a  replaceable lithium battery. AND it didn't lead me astray like the old one did the last few days.

This is still in use !!
Built 1880 !!

The markets were easy to get to using it. As I passed the wharf area I saw a few beautiful old wooden boats :-) I went back later for a closer look. Absolutely fascinating.

I was amazed at the size of the markets. Much more about handcrafted products, fruit and vegetables than food. I walked from one end to the other and then down the other side. Absolutely amazing amount of stuff on sale. I looked for the bloke from Cygnet but did not see any stall that looked like the one I saw on his TV show.

The fresh vegetables were interesting for the variety of vegetables available.

I spied a bratwust stall and had a pork bratwust with sauerkraut and German Mustard. I just had to have one of!! Delicious. I had bought a Cascade Ginger Beer just before that and as I was paying for the bratwust I was bumped from behind and the bottle fell to the ground and burst. Damn!! Some time later I decided to get another drink from the same stall an as I was paying for it the bloke said that he had seen the bottle fall to the ground and gave me another bottle of ginger beer. So there I was with two bottles of ginger beer and:-) Damn nice of him to do that.

I wasn't the only one feeling cold !!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Bratwust Stand

Beef, Pork, with or without sauerkraut and / or mustard
Pork with the lot !!

On the way back I just plugged in a few points of interest into the GPS and even found a shorter was to Peters place :-) I'm looking forward to the Sorrel markets tomorrow and then onto Huonville

13/01/12
Well, Alanah is back in the warm climate :-) Very quiet !!

Packed up and headed to Peter Buntings place in Carlton. His place is very close to the seafront. It's a small frefab place with double glazed windows and doors, insulated floors, walls and ceilings. The doors in the lounge area are the strangest I have ever seen where if you turn the door handle one way, it's a regular door, and if you turn the handle another was it becomes a window that opens from the top !!!

I dropped off the trailer and headed down to Port Arthur. Unfettered !! The roads are a joy to ride. even the main road to Port Arthur is loaded with curves !! From Peters place to the main highway the road was full of 25 - 35km corners. I could'nt stop smiling :-) Just 10k from his place I could see that it was raining (again) ahead so on went the waterproof pants. (Thank goodness for them). Refuelled at some small place where I refuelled myself as well. It was raining so a hot coffee and a magnificent chicken pie was consumed. My fingers were getting damp so I bought a pair of (bright yellow) kitchen gloves which I put on before putting on my motorcycle gloves. That made a great difference !!

Arrived at Port Arthur. The bloke at the gateway at the top of the hill told me there was motorcycle parking by the entrance and I could leave my gear on it if I wished. It cost $25 (concession) to get in and that was the cheapest entry fee but I found out that it included the boat trip to the Island of the Dead and two days entry to the area !! Very reasonable :-)

The Hospital

Government Cottage

The Church

It was facinating to go through the displays downstairs before wandering outside. The guided tour and the displays gave an interesting insight into life at Port Arthur for the convicts and the soldiers. I then wandered around after the tour to have a closer look at the buildings. The stonework was beautifully done. I went on the boat to do the Island of the Dead tour but as we approached the island it started to bucket down

That was it for me. My jacket and pants were on the bike !!

The Visiting Magistrate's House

The Penitentiary/. The good prisoners being on the top floors

The island had 1100 people buried there. The soldiers and freemen were buried on high ground and the prisoners on the low ground. The higher ranking one was, the higher up the hill on the island one was buried.

All in all it was an interesting day with a great ride back to Carlton where I stayed the night at Peter's place.

12/01/12
Three posts in one day !!!

Today was Alanah's last day. In fact she has just left. By the time I got back to the campsite the plane was just passing overhead.

Today was an easy day. We caught the public bus into Hobart (my, what a small city !!) It's spread out but the city itself is quite small. Anyway La did a bit of shopping / looking. To give you an idea, here are a few places she went into:-

Factorie - Sale 30% off
Vallygirl - Sale 70% off
Laundrie - Sale 30% off
Cotton On - Sale, Seriously
Jayjays - All stock on Sale
Supre' -  Summer Sale
Equip - Super Sale

La Di Da - My shopping is back :-)

Those, including Myers were visited :-) This tired her out so we went back to the campsite for a bit of a rest before packing her gear for her return flight.

It was great having her company these past 12 days. Not too much went as planned but I think she had a  good time :-) I will miss her .....

The bike is running well and tomorrow I'll head down south for a look.

Alanah's Comments

Hello everyone, I thought that I would write a few words  and tell you about my 12 day exerience travelling and camping around Tasmania with opa!!

My flight to adelaide was good I slept most of the way, it was quite a comfy flight as i had the window seat and a spare seat to the right of me! so i was able to lean against the window and kick my feet up :) you can feel sorry for the poor bloke on the other side of  the chair if you have ever smelt my feet!

Opa picked me up from the airport and took me back to the room he had stayed the night in, but i was too excited to get started on our adventure that i couldnt sleep! so we decided to head off. turns out i was tired and dosed off a few time on the ride to the roaches  (Bretts parents) which i was able to do because the road was so straight (my kinda of road!!)

Finally we made it to Bretts parents ( kate & Gorden) it was a really hot day so we were happy to arrive, but even happier we found they had the AC running and gave us both a big glass of cold water. They are both lovely people very welcomimg!!! they also had a lot of animals, which opa kept suggesting to eat!! later that evening, once it had cooled down kate and i went to see all the animals while opa and gorden had a manly conversation about...who knows what??

The next day riding to Melbourne, it was really hot! so i was always happy when we pulled into a servo to get a cool drink. in the heat, it took what seemed about forever to reach the GOR , amazingly, as soon as we arrived the temperature dropped a few degrees making it a lovely ride with great veiws and some knee trembeling turns!

By the time we got to Melbourne it was after 2100 so we went straight to the apartments we were staying in. I think we both slept well that night!

It was nice staying the two nights in melburne because it meant i could sleep in and recover from the long trip that we had endured. it also meant that we could check out the markets and have a nice relaxing day eating lots of yummy food.

Opa and i were both pretty excited to catch the ferry, it meant that our Tasmainian adventure was really about to begin!! I was a little worried about getting motion sickness and about there not being enough food to last me the night. turns out there was nothing  to worry about! neither one of us slept really well, there wasnt very much room to get too comfy.

We were both a little tired after the long boat ride and were thinking about staying the night in Devonport but ended up driving to Launceston because we had to do the hang gliding the next morning

We stayed at a cheap motel? called Batman Fawkner, opa pointed out that the tv wasnt flat screen (im pretty sure the tv was older than him :-) but that didnt matter because we were both pretty wrecked. so we went for a bit of a walk around, had some tea and went to bed.

The next morning we didnt get to hang gliding as expected becasue opas bike broke down  :( but no worries we went for a lovely stroll around town, down the harbour where we each ate an ice cream and then opa suggested going for a relaxing walk up to see the old buildings (made in 1979 they were pretend old buildings) turns out we went the wrong way! we didnt see any buildings pretending to be old, but we did find ourselves taking a massive hike up what seemed like thousands of steps! it was actually alot of fun :) although im not sure opa will agree with me. Launceston turned out to be a bit of fun we got to see a bike museum watch a few movies ( sherlock holmes and tin tin) and also explore te best places to eat!!

The next day i convinced opa that we could walk to hang gliding, on the way we stopped at a shop. we told the lady behind the counter of our plan and she was quite negative, said that she is a walker and that it is 100% impossible to do. set a challenge for me!!! opa not so much, but i tell you what i must have batted some serious eyelashes or be really convincing because he agreed  that we could give walking a shot. My o my it was a long walk it even left me feeling a little sore, imagine how poor opa felt! hang gliding was fun but it was over too fast. if i could make some suggestions it would be to lengthen the ride and put a bigger drop below to make it that much more thrilling.

Opa's bike was going to take time getting fixed so we hired a car and went to Coles Bay so we could do our kyaking tour. it was nice there and the beach looked lovely.  we set up our tents if you have ever heard the story of the three little pigs my tent was the one made of straw (which was up really quickly!!) and opas was the one made out of bricks ( so it took a little longer to put up). then we went for a walk along the beach, i even went for a swim!  it was freezing... turns out our kyaking tour was cancelled because the sea was to choppy so we booked it for another day.

Because Coles Bay is so small there wasnt much keeping us there so we went for a drive to Bicheno! i got car sick on the way so had a nap to try avoid getting any worse! the driving and the sickness was well worth it Bicheno was lovely. we went for a nice walk along the rocks took a few pictures had some lunch and then headed to the bay of fires. i got quite sick in the car and was happy when we finally arrived. Opa preferred bicheno because of all the granet but i liked the bay of fires because of the lovely beach. it was so nice that the white sand and small waves pulled me in.

The kyaking tour was really good, hard on the shoulders at times but LOTS of fun! getting out wasnt so fun, the beach was really windy and i was soaked. i was cold to say the least.
After the kyaking we had a big amount of driving to be done. i ended up gettiing some wrist bands to help me not get so sick and thank golly they worked! i slept alot of the way :) so the drive was a lot longer for opa than it was for me... he loved the drive though and was really impressed with some of the corners.

Riding to hobart was an experience!! i dont think i have ever been so cold in my life. it was raining and windy and some stupid temperature. we were both really happy when we got to our campsite and were able to grab a warm bite to eat, set up our tents and have hot hot hot showers mmm :)

Today is my last day in tasmania although  it wasnt the holiday i was expecting at all!!! i had alot of fun learnt alot and got to spend some quality time with opa that i never would have been able to do otherwise. i am looking forward to coming home because i miss family and definatly the weather but i am really glad that i have been able to have this experience. i will definatly miss opa im getting used to having him around all the time and im sure he is going to have a great adventure!!

 08/01/12
Went and picked up the car while Alanah was still asleep. 0830 from Hertz. Then loaded everything into it except the bike gear. We left the trailer locked up in the hotel compound. At least it was safe there. We headed for Coles Bay which was south of Bicheno and arrived there early enough to set up our campsite and go for a bit of a walk along the beach. It was a good 2 hour walk so Alanah is keeping me fit :-) It was still too early for the kyaking so Alanah decided to jump into the ocean. (In reality it was a sea of ice blocks). I put a toe  into the ice slurry for the briefest of moments and had to spend the next 15min chipping my toe free !! It had frozen to the slurry that they had the gall to call an ocean !!

Set up ready to go !!
See the ice ??

Looking back to the boat ramp

We wandered back so that she could defrost and then back down to the water all eager (?)  for the kyak trip. I looked at the chop that had sprung up along with a strong wind and was very happy when the young lass told us it had been cancelled because to was too rough. Alanah was disappointed of course ...

We went to the office and  found that the next morning was booked out but we could get on the following morning.

09/01/12
What to do ?? Go to Bicheno !!! So off we went. Alanah slept most of the way (as usual). What a great spot Bicheno was !!  We went along the foreshore, a walk of ONLY 6km. A short one for a change. To the blow hole and back. I was amazed at the size and thickness of the seaweed. Then for lunch, some scrumptious sangas with cheese, Magic bread and a shop bought chutney, which was nice, but not a patch on Kates chutney or Moma's pickles.

Along the walk on the Bicheno foreshore
Flower photography
The colour is in the rock and is everywhere

A cray boat in the tiny bay near the processing plant
More of these colourful lumps of granite
Alanah being cool :-)
Then off to the "Bay of Fires" we went with Alanah sleeping most of the way waking up with motion sickness at the Bay of Fires. We went for a walk amongst the rocks and thought  that they were not as nice as the rocks at Bicheno. The beach however, was fantastic. Very fine crunchy white sand, That was too much temptation for Alanah and in she went again. She took much longer to get totally wet as the ice slurry was thicker and colder (if that was possible) I attempted to go into the water again but my feet refused to move more than ankle deep, When a wave splashed up my leg that was it. I had visions of brass monkeys !!!

On the way back to Coles Bay we stopped at Bicheno for one of their (we were told) fantastic pies. The pie shop had closed 5 min before we got there!!!!! So next door for a pie

BIG MISTAKE !! The only resemblance to a pie was it's shape. The rest was crap !! Alanah commented that the person who served her was a grump and was very rude. (Chalk one up for public non-relations !!).  He would not let us eat the pie inside as it was a "take away" (??)

Anyway, it was back to Coles Bay for our kyaking trip the next morning.

I received a call to say that the fuel pump had to be replaced as the old one had died and that the part would arrive the next day.

10/01/12
We're down to the beach early !! Bloody wind was up and the sea was choppy !! Grrr. The fellows were hoping that it would calm down a bit before everyone arrived. We were to leave at 0800 but due to several late arrivals we did not get kitted up until 0830. Still choppy.

Frozzled
Kapitan Nemo and First Mate
Out we went with Alanah in the front seat. Into a head wind !! Who got wet ?? Not me :-).  I was the one in control of the rudder and someone tried to change direction with her paddle. We won't say who. Actually, we made a good team. We stopped for a hot drink and biscuits. Milo, Tea and/or coffee. After a short break it was Alanah's turn in the back seat. Man !! We had a great time. This time I was getting wet from the runoff  from the paddle as well as Alanah. As I dipped one side into the sea the other sprayed both her and myself with heavy droplets. I was soaked but with the effort to keep the thing headed into the waves I didn't have time to dwell on how cold it was :-)

On the final run back we finally  had the wind and waves pushing us and we were able to get a bit of speed up. What a fantastic morning. Something that has to be done again...

Cold Cold Cold and waiting for a hot Milo

Kapitan Nemo (alias - Smee0

We then headed back to Launceston via Bicheno and St Marys. We sat in the bakery and each had one of their delicious pies along with a much needed hot drink !!  I recieved a call to say the bike was ready so a change of plan was required. The drive through the hills  to St Marys went though some of the most beautiful forrest and the sharp curves put the Great Ocean Road to shame. Down to 15km curves !!

Plenty of these curves !!! :-)

We unloaded eveything back into the trailer at Launceston and just our motorcycle gear and headed for Devonport, arriving there about 1900hrs. Tea was the Noodle Box and we went to the foreshore and watched the Spirit of Tasmania leave,

11/01/12
After breakfast (??) at McDonalds of McMuffins and a hot coffee that Alanah managed to spill some of on herself (bought up a red welt on her chest which she cooled down by holding a bottle of cold water to the site) we went to Hertz, dropped off the vehicle and were picked up and after a 20min drive were at the Shearwater motorcycle shop. It had warmed up to just over 7.4c by this time !! As we were about to leave I noticed the RHS mirror was cracked and after they replaced it (at no charge) we headed back to Launceston.

After a snack of baked spud with chilli con carne in Launceston we were on our way to Hobart HOORAY !! The bike ran like a charm. Idled perfectly, which it had'nt since Adelaide. After a freezing run (cloudy) we refuelled about 70km out of Hobart and the woman there said that it was raining with a chance of snow in Hobart. Snow !!! On went my rain pants, neck warmer and an extra shirt (had 3 on already).  Alanah put on my rain jacket over her bike jacket to keep her warmer. It was only a few clicks down the road and into the rain we rode !! Talk about cold !! It was COLD !! Did I say it was COLD, it was freezing !! Positively FREEZING !! 40km later my gloves were soaked. Some water had dribbled into my jacket and I could only imagine what Alanah was feeling !! Man it was cold and wet !!

We stopped at some small shop to set up the GPS after calling "The Organiser" and found that I could not get my phone to work !! Either it had frozen or my fingers were too numb to work it. Gave it to Alanah to operate but after a stubborn refusal to work figured it too was feeling the cold :-)

Alanah finally relaxing
FINALLY !!! Found the caravan park, booked in, had a hot meal of bog-log then set up the tents.  It had stopped raining and we had to peel of a multitude of clothing, shower and start this blog before sliding into a sleeping bag.

All set up for the night.

What a busy day it had been !!

6/01/12
We had an early start to go to the hang gliding and managed 300m before the bike stopped :-( I ended up pushing it back to the place where we were staying and then after I couldn't get it to start I went looking for a bike shop. I found one close by but they were booked out and there was no Hyosung dealer in Launceston. They did, however, give me the name and phone number of one in Shearwater, about an hour north of here. I rang them up and they in turn said they would get to it as soon as they got the bike. He gave me the number of a bike cartage business who would do it for $100. I rang them and said they would be there within 2 hours. They were, and their charge was $150, return. Not much else I could do !!!  Long gone are the days of carbies and points !!

What to do now, What to do now ?? I spied a town map with a couple of walks on it, so off we went.... Down passed the BOAGS Brewery, along the flood levy bank down to the pristine riverfront. Pristine !!!?? What gives ?? Tasmania, the island of  pristine wilderness etc etc... The river was muddy and on the nose !! We walked down to the small marina and half the boats were sitting on mud !!  Aha, it's tidal !! (No excuse for the smelly muddy river).

Pristine Waters

Marina

Built 1880

The vats

We continued along the waterfront. I was amazed at the amount of mud around. I subsequently found out that it was indeed tidal and 40 odd years ago it was clean with sandy beaches where people swam. (Not now !! Warnings everywhere about getting in the water).

We ended the walk along the waterfront by an old flour mill which now housed a restaurant, boutique food stuff and tourist titbits and an art gallery. I spied a couple of people go up a path opposite the old mill and suggested we go and have a squiz!!

Drinks available in the OFM

Ahh - Ginger Beer !!

A squiz !!! It was a path designed for Olympic quality mountain goats, of which I'm not!! I could feel my knee and hip crying "give up !! give up !!" many times as I crawled up this mountain path made by madmen. Alanah, meanwhile, bounced up from step to step like it was a quiet Sunday stroll !! The little red steam engine did not huff and puff as much as I did....  After about, what seemed like, 500km we finally started downhill. Hooray !!. Man it was rocky !

There's the river, right down there !

And this is looking from the weir

And along the flat path back

We arrived at a waterhole with a small weir across it with people swimming it it. They had either very poor eyesight or no sense of feeling, or both, as I could clearly see ice cubes in the water. Large ones. There was no way in a million years I was going to get wet !! Lucky there was a path over the weir to a nice level path on the other side of the river back to where we had started from. I slept well !!

07/01/12
Booked out of the hotel and had to come back at 1400 to book back into another room. (was not expecting to stay a third night, but, with no bike we were on shanks pony today) We decided to walk to the Hang Gliding we were booked to do. Over 7+km from out hotel !! Who had this idea Alanah ?? Off we went, passed the old flour mill again where we were told it was too far, too steep and too rough to walk. Was that a red flag for Alanah ?? Within 100m it felt like I was walking up a brick wall !! Man, was I going to keep up with Alanah ?? I contemplated putting a iron ball and chain on her leg. As we walked I noticed fruit on the ground. Plums !! I looked up and the tree was loaded with them. Reached up and filled my hands with these ripe juice plums. Aah a sugar recharge !! a bit further of there was another plum tree with heavily laden branches over the path. Bigger plums, yellow inside and yum yum.

Loaded and Yummy

Though you wouldn't think it :-)

As I staggered further up the road there was another plum tree. Different plums again but juicy as. By then we had covered about 3km of our walk up, sorry, UP, the road. Then a blackberry bush. Not many were ripe but those that were !! magic !! Upward, ever upward we went. I looked back, scary to see how high we had travelled and still more to go.  Another plum tree and then another, more blackberries and the more my hip and knee complained. Then slowly (very slowly) it started to level out, and then, amazingly, started to go downhill (??) We eventually, after eons, arrived at the hang gliding site only to find out you had to go up this steep goat track up the side of  a quarry to reach the glider. I had to stop a couple of times there !! (All the while Alanah bounced up like it was a walk in the park)

A couple of glides each (The glides were great fun but over too quickly) and it was now a 7km walk, downhill thank goodness, back to Launceston. At the old mill I think Alanah took pleasure in telling the woman who had said that it was impossible that we had indeed walked there and back and it was no big deal (??????) Me... I was looking for somewhere to lie down. For weeks if possible :-).

Ready to go

Supergirl - ready to fly :-)

Who is that ??

We stopped at a small Fish & Chips place on the water front not far from the mill and had the best fish and chips I've had in years. The Best !! We got back to the hotel about 6 hours after we left. A great fantastic walk weary day.

Great fish and chips

Tomorrow I pick up a car for a few days and should hear something about the bike on Monday...
